San Francisco Bay Tour – This Saturday

Ever wanted to see San Francisco Bay up close and personal from the air?  On Saturday, January 28, join members of the Santa Cruz Flying club for a tour of one of the most scenic cities in the world.  Meet at the Flying Club at 11:00 AM for an 11:30 AM departure.  After touring the bay, we’ll stop at Livermore for lunch at Beeb’s Sports Bar and Grill.

New Aircraft Available to Club Members at a Discount

Due to the new agreements with Ocean Air Flight Services, we are able to offered discounted rates on the light sport Tecnam Eaglet and Tecnam P2002 Sierra for $98/hour (normally $103/hour) for Santa Cruz Flying Club members!

Announcing Our New Location

The Santa Cruz Flying Club has operated from the Watsonville Airport for nearly 20 years and provided valuable services to the community, including flight training, aircraft rentals and great social opportunities for pilots and aviation enthusiasts alike.  Many of us earned our wings at SCFC and fulfilled our dream of flight. SCFC is an institution at KWVI and is held in high regard throughout Northern California.

The continuing weak economic environment has been a challenge for General Aviation and for SCFC.  To continue to do our good work, we will be making some changes, effective October 1.  Here are some of the details:

  1. We moved from our existing location to an office located on the second floor of Ocean Air Flight Service at 170 Aviation Way (just across the parking lot).
  2. Santa Cruz Flying Club will no longer provide aircraft rental directly.  Instead, we will provide access to aircraft through agreements with participating FBO’s at KWVI. Whenever possible discounted hourly rates will be arranged on those aircraft.
  3. You can continue your flight training from most of your favorite SCFC CFI’s through the FBO’s where you rent your aircraft.

Club Membership Dues

Existing club members probably noticed the decrease in membership dues during the transition. For a time we had no aircraft available and temporarily reduced the dues to reflect that change.

We now have even more aircraft available than we did before, but due to cost savings in other areas we can now offer a reduced rate on club dues.  Effective November 1, dues will be reduced to $15 per month, payable exclusively though Paypal.  Paypal will help us keep our costs as low as possible.  Current dues-paying club members will receive separate information on the transition to PayPal and dues information.

Membership ApplicationIf you are not yet a member and would like to join now, it’s easier than ever! Simply click the Become a Member button to learn more, fill out your membership application and set up your payment of the dues.
